Homeless women are less visible than men and often have children, an advocacy group says.

It is calling for more targeted support for women, who often have children with them.

The Coalition to End Women's Homelessness cites the latest Stats NZ housing report on housing in New Zealand as evidence that homeless women are in much less visible situations than men.

Heft Executive Director, Vic Crockford, is a member of the Coalition and she tells Kathryn about the types of situations women find themselves in when homeless and why that changes the type of support needed.
